A website that makes a Cambridge homeowner pick up the phone

We build and rebuild websites for Cambridge service businesses so that a visitor on a phone sees proof, understands the job and can contact you in one tap.

Your website has one job: to turn a stranger who found you into someone who calls, texts or emails. Most trades sites we review in Cambridge get found well enough. They lose people in the next twenty seconds, on a phone, because the visitor can't quickly see that you work near them, what the job involves, or how to reach you.

What a converting trades site needs

A visitor needs to trust you, understand you and reach you, in that order. Everything on the site should help with one of those three.

  • Trust: real photos of your crew and your jobs, your licence or registration details where your trade requires them, and reviews shown honestly.
  • Understanding: one page per service, explaining what happens, roughly how long it takes and what affects the price.
  • Reaching you: a phone number that is tappable on every page, a text option for people who can't talk at work, and an email address.

We don't build contact forms, booking widgets or chat pop-ups. They add steps, and on a trades site the shortest route to a booked job is a person talking to a person.

Who this is for

This is for Cambridge businesses whose site is old, slow, or built on a template that looks like every other trade in Waterloo Region. It's also for owners who get decent traffic from search but very few calls from it.

If almost nobody visits your site at all, start with local SEO or Google Ads first, or alongside the rebuild. A beautiful site nobody sees won't change your month.

What's included

  1. A short discovery call about your services, your best and worst jobs, and the questions customers ask before they hire you.
  2. A page plan: home, one page per profitable service, an about page with your story and your team, a service-area page that shows real work across Cambridge, and a contact page.
  3. Writing, done by us and checked by you. We write from your answers, not from templates.
  4. Speed and mobile set-up, so pages load quickly on a phone with a weak signal.
  5. Tracking, so every call, text and email click is counted and you can see which pages produce them.
  6. Search basics: titles, descriptions, structured data and internal links set up correctly from day one.

Showing local work without doorway pages

Cambridge's three-town identity is useful on a website, but only when it is backed by real work. A page that says "we serve Hespeler" with nothing else on it does nothing for the reader and can be treated as a doorway page.

What works instead is one strong service-area page that shows jobs from Galt, Preston, Hespeler and North Cambridge, with a photo, a sentence about the house and what you did, and the street name left out for privacy. If you do a lot of work in one area, a dedicated page can make sense, as long as it is filled with genuinely local examples.

Timeline

Stage Typical length
Discovery and page plan 1 week
Writing and photo gathering 1–2 weeks
Build and your review 1–2 weeks
Launch and tracking checks A few days

The biggest delay is almost always photos. Start taking them on every job now, with the customer's permission.

How results are measured

We measure the share of visitors who contact you, not how the site looks. Before launch we record your current calls, texts and email clicks from the site; afterwards we compare month by month.

If the site launches and contact numbers don't move, we look at where visitors leave and change those pages. A website is a working tool, so it keeps getting adjusted after launch.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Stock photos of smiling models in hard hats. Homeowners can tell, and it undercuts trust.
  • A phone number only in the header image, where it can't be tapped.
  • Hiding prices completely. You don't need a price list, but a range or the factors that drive cost help people decide to call.
  • One page listing every service. It ranks poorly and answers nobody's specific question.

Frequently asked questions

Do I own the website you build?

Yes. The domain, the content and the site are yours. If you ever leave, you take everything with you, and we help with the handover.

What does a new website cost?

Website work is included in our monthly plans rather than sold separately on this site. On Elite you pay half price for any Trades.Agency website design package, and on Enterprise the design and build cost you nothing.

How long does a rebuild take?

Most trades sites take a few weeks from first draft to launch, depending mostly on how quickly we can gather job photos and your answers to customer questions.

Why no contact form on the site?

Because most homeowners with an urgent problem would rather call or text, and forms add a step where people give up. We make calling, texting and emailing one tap away on every page instead.
